Construction begins on segment of Spring Creek Greenway trail

By  |

The Woodlands Township has received word that Harris County Precinct 4 is beginning the construction of the segment of the Spring Creek Greenway trail within the George Mitchell Nature Preserve.

The 12’ wide asphalt trail between Burroughs Park and Dr. Ann Snyder Way began this week with site clearing. Construction for this segment is expected to take eight months, weather permitting.

The land is owned by The Howard Hughes Corporation, with an easement for the trail granted to Harris County. Harris County Precinct 4, The Woodlands Township, Bayou Land Conservancy, and The Howard Hughes Corporation work closely on trail development within the Preserve.

The Spring Creek Nature trail will remain open during construction. When completed, the Spring Creek Greenway trail project will be approximately 45 miles long, between U.S. 59 and SH 249. For questions on the project, please call 281-353-8100, or visit https://www.hcp4.net/parks/scg/.
