Montgomery County ESD No. 10 to Host Three Community Open Houses

MAGNOLIA, TX – The Montgomery County Emergency Services District Number 10 (ESD No. 10) will host three community open houses to welcome residents to see up-close the life-saving equipment and training first responders use to save lives and protect people. ESD No. 10 commissioners and command staff will meet with residents to answer questions.

The open houses will feature activities for kids, photo opportunities with firefighters and their equipment, as well as refreshments.

Details of the open houses are as follows:

• Saturday, October 16 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Magnolia Volunteer Fire Department Station 184 (27610 Decker Prairie Road, Pinehurst, TX 77362)
• Tuesday, October 19 from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at Magnolia Volunteer Fire Department Station 186 (32707 FM 2978 Road, Magnolia, TX 77354)
• Thursday, October 28 from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at Magnolia Volunteer Fire Department Station 181 (18215 Buddy Riley Blvd, Magnolia, TX 77354)

Fire Chief Jeff Hevey, the command staff, and other first responders will be available to discuss response rates, newly improved facilities, and equipment that has helped improve response times and improved the Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO) rating that could lower insurance rates for homes and businesses. ESD No. 10 Commissioners will address overall planning and strategies regarding facilities, tax rate, and the transition from Magnolia Volunteer Fire Department to a fire department directly managed by ESD No. 10 in early 2022.

The Montgomery County Emergency Services District Number 10 operates under Chapter 775, “Emergency Services Districts” of V.T.C.A., Health & Safety Code. The District was converted from a Rural Fire Prevention District on January 1, 1996, after voter approval. The District provides Emergency Services to an estimated 140,000 citizens within approximately 165 square miles. The District covers an area between Tomball, The Woodlands, Montgomery and Waller, Texas. The District utilizes the property and sales taxes it collects to provide funding to equip and operate the Magnolia Volunteer Fire Department (MVFD). The MVFD currently operates nine Fire Stations and has more than forty Emergency Response vehicles in service to respond to community needs.
