Linda Wilmoth honored for more than 40 years of service with Bell Dedication Ceremony

By  |

On Friday, May 24, The Woodlands Methodist Church honored Linda Wilmoth for her more than four decades of service to children and their families as executive director of Children of The Woodlands preschool.

In the ceremony, held outside the entrance to The Woodlands Methodist School, a bell was dedicated in Wilmoth’s name. The bell, which was part of the original location of The Woodlands Methodist Church on Panther Creek, was restored and placed outside the school that Wilmoth played an integral part in establishing.

“For over 40 years Linda provided inspiring leadership to Children of The Woodlands preschool, and she was a primary force in starting The Woodlands Methodist School, which now goes through eighth grade,” said Dr. Ed Robb, founding pastor and pastor emeritus of The Woodlands Methodist Church. “Literally hundreds of children will remember Linda Wilmoth’s warm smile which greeted them each morning.”

Wilmoth served countless families over her years as executive director. Many of the children she served are now returning with their own children to Children of The Woodlands. During her tenure, she committed herself to creating and supporting programs that foster growth, exploration and discovery for children.

“In her more than 40 years as executive director of our preschool, Linda established the program as a standard of excellence for the community,” said the Rev. Mark Sorensen, senior pastor of The Woodlands Methodist Church. “She nurtured children, supported their families and expanded the preschool to become a vital ministry of the church.”

In her speech at the ceremony, Wilmoth told the crowd, “Look at where we’ve come. It was great fun!” She thanked Robb and his wife, Beverly, for believing in her and supporting her, and she thanked her family who, she said, helped her tremendously while serving the school.

The ceremony was attended by Wilmoth’s family and friends along with current and former staff of Children of The Woodlands, The Woodlands Methodist School and The Woodlands Methodist Church.
