North Houston’s City Place makes May memorable with activities
At north Houston’s City Place, May brings a myriad of activations including a pickleball experience in partnership with the NPL Houston Hammers team, weekly CPR class, outdoor screening of The Sandlot and an immersive wedding showcase in conjunction with the Houston City Place Marriott spotlighting scenes from a South Asian reception. Programming takes place on and around the community’s central Plaza at 1250 Lake Plaza Drive.
Seasonal Programming
Fall in love with City Place and its unique indoor and outdoor venues at the Seasons of Love wedding showcase on Sunday, May 4 from 1 pm to 5 pm. The AAA Four-Diamond Houston City Place Marriott will host the complimentary event, taking guests through moments of a South Asian wedding from ceremony to reception. Brides and their entourages can interact with a variety of top vendors ranging from decorators, caterers and bakers to photographers, DJs, florists, musicians and more. Attendees will be entered to win door prizes including staycations at property, and self-parking in the hotel garage will be validated.
In partnership with Houston’s only professional pickleball team, the #3 ranked NPL Houston Hammers, City Place will be hosting It’s Pickle Time on Saturday, May 3 from 10 am to 1 pm. The event will be held on pop-up pickleball courts located in the parking lot of Star Cinema Grill (1495 Lake Plaza Dr.) and will begin with a hands-on, complimentary drills and skills clinic for beginner to intermediate players from 10 am to 11:30 am. Learn from the pros with a free exhibition match from 11:30 am to 12 pm. Then, from noon until 1 pm, enjoy free and fun pickleball games for a chance to win prizes from City Place restaurants. Pickleball paddles will be provided free for trial, and there will also be a showcase of other pickleball related vendors.

Reoccurring Programming
On Thursdays, May 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29, MDSA: Be Dance! Class will host complimentary dance classes on The Plaza teaching children the fundamentals of dance through movement and balance. The interactive, 45-minute programs begin at 5:30 pm.
Yoga on The Plaza is a complimentary, one-hour experience with meditation element that takes place every Saturday at 10 am. It’s the perfect way to kick off the weekend with the picturesque City Place Park waterfront as its backdrop.
Get fit, toned and sculpted with the complimentary resistance Band Sculpt Class from 11 am until 11:45 am every Saturday on May 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31. Resistance bands will be provided for use during the session.
Pix on the Plaza is back on Saturday, May 3 with a complimentary screening of American baseball classic The Sandlot (PG – 1993) starting just after sunset at approximately at 8:25 pm. Blankets and low-profile chairs are welcome. Popcorn and Cracker Jack will be provided free of charge while supplies last.
Every Sunday in May (May 4, 11, 18 and 25) Healthy Hearts Club and The Woodlands High School will be on site at The Plaza from 2 pm until 4 pm for CPR classes. The fundraising initiative is priced at $35 for children (must be 12 or older) and students, while adult fees are $65 per person. Participants can sign up at this link, and payment via cash or check is due at the training session.
Soccer Shots weekly camps occur on Wednesdays with the final classes of the current season being held on May 7 and 14. Building on sport skills and character development, classes for 2-3-year-olds are from 4:30 to 5 pm, and 3-5-year-olds take the field from 5:10 to 5:45 pm. Paid registration is required. Ahead of the start of the summer season, a free Soccer Shots fun day is scheduled on May 28 with 2-3-year-olds welcome from 5 to 5:40 pm 3-5-year-olds take the field from 5:40 pm to 6:15 pm.

Mr. Leo’s Puppet Show takes center stage for a free performance on Sunday, May 11 from noon until 2 pm, while Toddler Time with Miss Rachel features an engaging parent and child movement and music class on Sunday, May 4 and Saturday, May 31 from 11 am to 1 pm.
Showcasing the latest games and consoles, Video Game Theater rolls into City Place on Saturday, May 17 from noon until 2 pm. The complimentary activation from Gulf Coast Gamers is perfect for players of all ages and skill levels.
Texas Bubblers brings Texas-sized bubbles and lots of free fun to The Plaza on Sunday, May 18 from noon until 2 pm.
The Fun Bus makes a stop at City Place on Saturday, May 24 from 11 am until 1 pm for a complimentary mobile gym experience designed for kids aged 18 months to seven years old. With enthusiastic instructors leading games, obstacle courses and themed activities, children can swing, bounce and climb in a colorful, 35-foot refurbished school bus.
