Memorial Hermann The Woodlands holds dedication of the Melissa Preston Breast Care Center
Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center held a dedication ceremony on Wednesday, October 1 for the Melissa Preston Breast Care Center, located at 9200 Pinecroft Dr Suite 150 in The Woodlands.
A generous and heartfelt gift from Trey and Jessica Brice was made in honor of beloved mother and community advocate Melissa Preston and enabled the expansion and enhancement of the Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center Breast Care Center.
Without having to pause services or care for the expansion, patients now experience a more advanced, patient-centered space and the improvements further strengthen the center’s mission to provide compassionate, comprehensive breast care to the community.
On the evening of October 1, the Brice family, Memorial Hermann leadership, and community partners came together to celebrate the expanded Breast Center and honor the life and impact of Melissa Preston with an official renaming of the center to be the Melissa Preston Breast Care Center.

Justin Kendrick, Senior Vice President and CEO, Memorial Hermann The Woodlands and Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital, shared about the Breast Care Center stating, “What really sets us apart here, what really defines us is not just what we do but how we do it. We believe deeply in making every encounter meaningful and treating each person with compassion, dignity, and a sense of belonging, just like they were a member of our own family.” Kendrick continued by stating the Breast Care Center “really embodies what makes this campus so special. Really that intersection between medical care and heartfelt care.”
Trey Brice shared, “I wanted to thank you all very especially for this opportunity, to provide a legacy for my mother’s name like this is not something I had ever dreamed possible…It’s not about an opportunity to put my mom’s name on a wall for us, but it’s this specific opportunity that was brought to us to provide this specific service.”
Linda Nelson, Director of Director Business Development, Canopy Cancer Survivor Center, and Volunteers at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center, shared how Melissa Preston was known for her, “strength and compassion, and she fought her cancer journey the same way. But what I will always remember most is about her warmth and humor.”
Melissa Preston’s legacy lives on through this generous gift, which will provide comfort, hope, and healing for thousands of patients in the years to come.

Artwork, from local artists from The Woodlands area, covers the walls and offers a calm, soothing environment to further enhance the patient experience and bring a touch of home. The featured artists, that now have artwork in both in the Melissa Preston Breast Care Center and local art gallery Ardest Gallery, attended the event to offer their heartfelt support of the Breast Care Center and the beautifully, artistically transformed space.
The celebration was a meaningful start to breast cancer awareness month, and will be followed by the 25th anniversary of In the Pink of Health, a passion of Melissa’s, held this year on Friday, October 24, 2025.
