Chamber President Scott Harper will officially plant the tree, and attendees are invited to place soil around it. The tree planting is tied to the ongoing America 250 celebration, marking 250 years since the American Revolution. Last year, a Montgomery County Liberty Tree was planted at the Heritage Museum of Montgomery County on the 250th anniversary of the “Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death!” speech given by Patrick Henry on March 23, 1775. Other America 250 events have been planned by the Montgomery County Historical Commission’s America 250 committee.

Attendees are encouraged to wear green in honor of both the Liberty Tree planting and St. Patrick’s Day. A 15-gallon Redbud tree was donated by Trees for Houston for the Liberty Tree planting at the Chamber.
