By  |

Scores of adoptable pets are longing for people to shower with love and affection. Operation Pets Alive is proud to partner with PetSmart Charities® to bring adoptable pets from the shelter into PetSmart at 6545 Grand Parkway, Suite 104, Spring, Texas, in support of National Adoption Week, taking place March 28-29, 2026.

During the in-store event, staff and volunteers will be available to help potential pet parents to meet and spend time with adoptable pets of various breeds and energy levels, including cats, kittens, dogs and puppies from Operation Pets Alive, a 2025 PetSmart Charities grantee.

“At Operation Pets Alive, our mission is to help more pets leave the shelter alive and find loving homes,” said Eve Jackson, Operation Pets Alive Board Member and Adoption Coordinator. “Partnering with PetSmart Charities allows us to meet potential adopters where they already are in the community and introduce them to incredible pets who are ready to become part of a family.”

Studies show that caring for pets is beneficial to the cognitive, physical and emotional wellness of people. When families share pet caregiving responsibilities, children learn important values such as selflessness, patience and compassion.

“Making room in your heart and home for a pet opens the door for another pet to enter the rescue, so you’re really saving two lives,” said Aimee Gilbreath, president of PetSmart Charities. “If you’re looking for a positive way to contribute to your local community and bring new joy to your household, what better time than during National Adoption Week. We’re thankful for the professionals and volunteers at Operation Pets Alive for the love and care they give to pets all year long – together we can make a significant impact on people and pets.”

Operation Pets Alive (OPA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, all-volunteer organization striving to elevate Montgomery County to a No-Kill community through innovative programs that raise community awareness, reduce the number of dogs and cats who enter our shelters and increase the number of dogs and cats who leave our shelters alive. At OPA, we depend entirely on volunteers to implement our life-saving work. Each year, we rescue thousands of homeless pets, and impact the lives of hundreds more through our Core Programs. All thanks to countless volunteer hours. Join us and learn how you can make a difference in the lives of the homeless animals of Montgomery County by visiting operationpetsalive.org.
