All Lanes Open on Lake Woodlands Drive Widening Project

By  |

All new lanes opened this week on the Lake Woodlands Drive widening project.

“I am excited to announce this major mobility improvement to one of the most heavily traveled thoroughfares in The Woodlands,” Precinct 3 Commissioner James Noack said. “This is now the seventh road bond project completed that was funded from the 2015 road bond.”

Lake Woodlands Drive was widened from Interstate 45 to Six Pines Drive, including an additional through lane in each direction and improved turn lane movements at intersections. New traffic signals were installed at the Lake Woodlands Drive intersections with Pinecroft Drive and The Woodlands mall/Pinecroft Center entrances at the east end of the project.

Median crossing improvements also were completed between Six Pines Drive and Grogan’s Mill Road.

The project, which started in April, is substantially complete more than a month ahead of schedule. Contractor Main Lane still has minor work and cleanup remaining, with some landscaping improvements slated as well.

Cost of construction will be approximately $1.5 million and was part of the 2015 road bond project list.

Precinct 3 Commissioner James Noack’s office continues to make progress on other road improvement projects, as well as striping, crack seal and pavement repair work.
