Bald eagle appearance to soar at South County 4th of July Parade
The South County 4th of July Committee is proud to announce a breathtaking addition to this year’s Independence Day celebration: a live bald eagle appearance, courtesy of Last Chance Forever – The Bird of Prey Conservancy.
This awe-inspiring appearance aligns perfectly with the 2025 parade theme, “Wings of Liberty: Celebrating the Bald Eagle”, paying tribute to our national bird and the spirit of independence it represents.
Founded in 1978 by Master Falconer John Karger, Last Chance Forever is a San Antonio-based nonprofit dedicated to the rehabilitation of injured and orphaned birds of prey. With a mission rooted in conservation, education, and the ancient art of falconry, the organization has returned thousands of raptors to the wild and inspired countless individuals through its powerful public presentations.
This year, parade attendees will have the rare opportunity to witness one of the Conservancy’s most majestic ambassadors—the bald eagle, a symbol of American freedom and resilience. The eagle’s appearance underscores the parade’s patriotic spirit and commitment to honoring the natural world we share.

“We couldn’t imagine a more fitting embodiment of this year’s theme,” said John Powers, President of the South County 4th of July Committee. “This bald eagle appearance will remind us all of the power, grace, and responsibility that come with liberty.”
The South County 4th of July Parade presented by Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital will take place on Friday, July 4, with festivities beginning at 8:00 a.m. Parade-goers are encouraged to arrive early to experience this rare and majestic moment in person.
