By  |

Celebrate the Chinese New Year with games, music, art and traditional dance at The Woodlands Children’s Museum.

The event is slated for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21 at the museum, located at 4775 W. Panther Creek Drive, Suite 280, 77381. The cost to attend is included in the price of admission, which is $6 for adults and children 1 year and older.

Traditional Lion Dancers, Chinese Folk Dancers and the Red Chinese Knots will be highlights of the festive occasion. Check woodlandschildrensmuseum.org for the performance schedule.

The Conroe High School Chinese Club also will be on hand to teach children the art of Chinese calligraphy, and members of the College Park National Honor Society Chinese Club will lead art projects and games throughout the day.

The museum will continue to offer holiday-themed art projects and games during its regular hours on Sunday, Jan. 22.

“A number of countries celebrate the Lunar New Year – and we want to celebrate the rich traditions of Asia with everyone,” Angela Colton, the museum’s executive director, said. “We have a magical day planned, sure to enchant children with the beautiful costumes, music and theatrics of our performers. Plus, we know how much our little guests enjoy meeting high school students from the community.”

The event is recommended for ages 7 years and under. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
