chris-brice

Hello Woodlands gave the opportunity to all candidates running for The Woodlands Township Board of Directors to interview with our team. We want to thank the candidates for their time and allowing Hello Woodlands to share their answers with YOU and the community.

Share your background. What originally brought you to The Woodlands?

“I was born and raised in Vicksburg, Mississippi . I attended Mississippi State University earning a BS in Banking and Finance in 1978. I spend 4 years after graduating in Mississippi with two banks before moving to Houston in 1982. I went to work for Heights State Bank and then moved to Klein Bank till 1985 when I began a 19+ year career at Texas Commerce Bank aka JP Morgan Chase. IN 2005 I moved to Amegy Bank where I am the manager for the Private Banking group for NW Houston and Montgomery County.

I moved to The Woodlands in 2005 upon my marriage to my wife Gay Bruns Grice.”

Why do you enjoy living and/or working in The Woodlands?

“I love living in this community because it gives you the small town feeling while having all the amenities of living in a big city. We have world class entertainment just outside our doors at the Pavilion. Some of the best restaurants and shopping in all of Houston. We have recreational facilities and golf courses that are rated as some of the best in the country attracting tournaments such as Insperity and formally the Shell Houston Open. As if that was not enough to be able to have a 10 min. commute to work makes it easy to have a balanced work and family life.”

Tell us about your business (and/or organization, group, event, product, etc).

“I am a Senior Vice President at Amegy Bank of Texas managing the Private Banking team for NW Houston and Montgomery County.”

What makes you and your business unique?

“Amegy is unique and especially our Private Banking group because we build relationships with our clients. We are not product pushers but relationship bankers. In this world of just being a number at a larger bank at Amegy we know your name and work to find solutions to your needs.”

What can you offer residents?

“All the services and products that a large bank has but with that small town community bank feeling.”

How has The Woodlands helped or affected your business?

“As the community has grown The Woodland market has become a major market for our banking team. We are the largest hub of bankers in the Amegy Banking system outside of our headquarters located in the Galleria. In fact Amegy Mortgage located right here at Research Forest and Gosling is the mortgage company all of the affiliates of Zions from Texas to California.”

How do you (personally and/or your business) contribute, give back and/or make a difference in our community?

  • Currently a Director of the Montgomery County Hospital District

  • Currently the Chairman of the Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital Advisory Committee

  • Currently on the Board of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

  • Past Chairman of The Woodland Economic Development Partnership

  • Former Board Member Lone Star Family Health Center

  • Former Board Member of the YMCA South Montgomery County

  • Graduate of Leadership Montgomery County 2007.

Where do you see yourself (personally and/or your business) in the near future?

“First of all I want to be your representative on The Woodlands Township Board of Directors. I plan on continuing my career with Amegy Bank for the next 4-5 years then contemplate retiring from banking. As a 38 year banker it has given me a perspective of what my clients are lacking in as it relates to secession and retirement planning. Upon my retirement from banking I plan on working part time with businesses and individuals to develop retirement and secession plans.”

Top 5 Favorites Things To Do, Places To Go, People/Groups, etc in The Woodlands that you would recommend?

  1. Spend time with my wife and our 5 children between us along with our 4 grandchildren.

  2. Love to play golf and enjoy the outdoors.

  3. Love to watch college and professional Football.

  4. Love to attend our church to worship and socialize with our friends.

  5. Love to travel with our favorite place the Hawaiian Islands.

Would you like to share any other words, stories, or thoughts?

“As you can see by this my resume I have a heart for serving and giving back to my community. I believe that I will bring a unique set of skills to the Township Board having been a 38+ year banker working with individuals, businesses, corporations and professional firms. Working with these groups has taught me how to build relationships and consensus, which is talents that will be helpful on the board. We have a number of issues to tackle over the coming years such as mobility and when and if to incorporate. This will require people who can work well with others like the county and state officials as it relates to working through not only our internal transportation issues but those outside of the Woodlands proper. We have to be good neighbors but we also do not want to have major roads running through our community. In order to find solutions for all parties we need to have people that have the skill set to work well with others but also the firmness to protect our community. Incorporation requires that we do a careful analysis of the cost and benefits and when the time is right present these facts to the residents to decide.”
