Outrun Hunger has grown into one of Montgomery County’s signature community runs for hunger relief, offering something for every pace. Competitive runners can take on the timed 5K Trail Run or the all-new 8K Trail Run, while the untimed 1K Color Dash brings pure, colorful fun for the whole family. The fun doesn’t stop at the finish line. More than 400 runners and community members are expected to fill The Lake House at Grand Central Park, and Outrun Hunger’s Party Pavilion keeps the energy going all morning with live music, food trucks, a kids’ zone, vendors, photo ops, and more.

The Food Bank encourages participants to set up a fundraiser or form a team to make their impact go even further. Awards will be presented to the Top Male and Female Overall, Top Male and Female Masters, and fastest 8K and 5K teams. Team awards include Top Fundraiser, Most Team Spirit, and Largest Team.

All proceeds benefit Montgomery County Food Bank’s programs for feeding children, seniors, and families in need across the county.

Hundreds of runners and community members are expected again to gather at Outrun Hunger 2026.More than 100,000 neighbors in Montgomery County face food insecurity, meaning they lack consistent access to enough food for a healthy, active life. More than 30,000 of those neighbors are children, and when schools close for the summer, the need for food assistance only grows. Outrun Hunger helps Montgomery County Food Bank meet the rising demand head on.

“The need for food assistance in Montgomery County is more significant than most people realize, and it takes a committed community to meet it,” said Scott Burns, Vice President of Growth and incoming President and CEO of Montgomery County Food Bank. “Outrun Hunger brings together participants, volunteers, and sponsors whose support directly funds the programs that feed our neighbors year-round.”
