Conroe ISD Board announces Superintendent Search Firm Selection
The Conroe ISD Board of Trustees voted 5-2 to select Texans for Excellence in Education (TEE) to initiate the District’s superintendent search, after hearing presentations from six firms at a special board meeting Thursday.
“After a thorough review, the Board is pleased to announce the selection of Texans for Excellence in Education to lead our superintendent search,” the Board said in a joint statement. “Their strong commitment to stakeholder engagement, coupled with the team’s specialized expertise, makes them uniquely qualified to guide this critical process. We look forward to a collaborative and transparent search that reflects the values and priorities of our community.”
The motion approved administration to enter into negotiation with TEE, the top-ranked firm after ratings were tabulated, followed by runner-up Walsh Gallegos Kyle Robinson & Roalson P.C. should an agreement not be met. The negotiations will continue following the Board’s ratings, if necessary.
“We are honored and excited that Texans for Excellence in Education has been selected to lead the superintendent search for Conroe ISD,” said John Petree, TEE President. “Our team is committed to delivering a search process grounded in community engagement, transparent communication, and a tailored approach that reflects the values and priorities of the Conroe ISD community.”
TEE Executive Search is designed to align with the values and vision of Texas school boards when selecting superintendents, cabinet, central office, and other administrative positions. As a 501©(3) non-profit, TEE prioritizes student outcomes over financial gain, ensuring an unbiased, transparent, and results-driven process. The search team has over 100 years of combined experience in K-12 executive leadership and human resource development, leveraging an extensive statewide network to identify and recruit top candidates.
At the May 19 special board meeting, the Board approved the request for proposal for consultant firms specializing in assisting school districts with superintendent searches. The district received eight submissions that met the scope of work requested, with six firms accepting invitations and making presentations in the following order:
- Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Executive Search Services
- BBAC Headquarters LLC Staffing Agency
- Walsh Gallegos Kyle Robinson & Roalson P.C.
- McPherson & Jacobson LLC
- Texans for Excellence in Education
- Ray and Associates
All vendors were given a 10-minute allotment to make their presentation, before taking questions from the trustees. After all presentations were made, the Purchasing Department opened the module for the Board to evaluate the vendors and tabulated the scores.
Dr. Ted Landry, who was the principal at The Woodlands High School, was approved as the interim superintendent on May 19. Former superintendent Dr. Curtis Null was named the lone finalist for the superintendent position with Lake Travis ISD on May 1 and will begin his new post on June 2.
