THE WOODLANDS TOWNSHIP BOARD OF DIRECTORS – 2026 CANDIDATE
Craig Eissler is running for The Woodlands Township Board Position 4.

1. Why do you enjoy living (and working, if applicable) in The Woodlands?
I enjoy living and working in The Woodlands because, quite simply, this is home. I grew up here. I met my wife here when we were in high school, and when it came time for us to decide where we wanted to raise our own family, we chose to come back to The Woodlands. We wanted our kids to grow up with many of the same things that made this community so special to us: safe neighborhoods, great schools, wonderful people, and a real sense of community. At the same time, The Woodlands has continued to grow and evolve, with a strong economy, incredible amenities, beautiful natural surroundings, and opportunities that make it, in my opinion, the best community in the country. What I appreciate most is that, even with all that growth, The Woodlands has remained true to the vision George Mitchell had from the beginning: creating a community where people could live, work, play and pray. I have been fortunate enough to experience that vision throughout my life, first as a kid growing up here, then as a husband and father raising a family here, and now as someone who has the privilege of working and serving in the community I call home.
2. What motivates you to run for The Woodlands Township Board of Directors?
I originally ran for the Township Board as The Woodlands was coming off the celebration of its 50th anniversary. Having grown up here, that milestone made me think not only about everything that had been accomplished during our first 50 years, but about who would step forward to help lead The Woodlands into its next 50. I’m now completing my first term and have the privilege of serving as Vice Chairman. These two years have gone by incredibly fast, but they’ve reinforced my belief that it’s time for my generation to help carry the torch forward. We grew up benefiting from George Mitchell’s vision and from the hard work of the leaders who spent decades turning that vision into reality. Those of us who know and love The Woodlands have a responsibility to build upon their work, protect what makes this community special, and keep that momentum going for the generations that follow us. I want my children and the next generation to inherit a Woodlands that is just as special, and hopefully even better, than the one we inherited. That’s what motivates me to continue serving.

3. If elected, what would your top 3 priorities as a Township Board of Director be? How would you work to impact/shape the future of The Woodlands?
My top three priorities would be public safety, economic development, and traffic and mobility.
Public safety will always come first. Safe neighborhoods are one of the biggest reasons people move to The Woodlands and choose to stay here. They’re also essential to attracting businesses and visitors. If people don’t feel safe, the rest doesn’t matter. Full stop.
Second, we need to continue strengthening our economy and diversifying Township revenues. By recruiting and retaining businesses, expanding our economic base, and continuing to make The Woodlands a destination for visitors, we can generate additional economic activity while reducing our reliance on property taxes.
Third, we have to continue addressing traffic and mobility. That includes congestion, parking challenges in Town Center, and working with our county and regional partners to pursue smart infrastructure improvements. At the same time, we need solutions that respect the trees and natural environment that define The Woodlands.
My approach to the future is simple: protect what makes The Woodlands special while preparing it for the next generation. We can remain safe, economically strong, accessible, beautiful, and fiscally responsible while continuing the vision that has made this community one of the best places in America to call home.
4. Would you like to share any other words or a message to The Woodlands community?
It has been an incredible honor and privilege to serve on the Township Board these past two years. We have accomplished a great deal in a short amount of time, and I’m excited about continuing that momentum and working to keep The Woodlands the greatest community in the country. I also want residents to know how much happens behind the scenes every day. Our Township staff does an incredible job and works tirelessly to maintain the exceptional quality of life we sometimes take for granted. They deserve tremendous credit. As a Board, we take seriously our responsibility to be good stewards of taxpayer dollars and to make decisions that serve both today’s residents and future generations. Most of all, thank you for your trust, confidence, and support. One of the greatest strengths of this community is the exceptional people who live here. Please continue to share your ideas, concerns, and feedback with us. We want to know how we can better serve you. The Woodlands is my hometown. It has given so much to me and my family, and it is an honor to have the opportunity to give back by serving this community.
