Día de los Muertos Celebration returns to City Place with music, dance, and culture
Celebrate life, culture, and tradition at the annual Día de los Muertos Celebration at City Place Plaza on Friday, November 1, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. This vibrant and family-friendly event invites the community to experience the rich heritage of Día de los Muertos through live music, colorful performances, interactive art, and authentic cultural experiences—all free to attend.
Guests can enjoy a festive evening featuring Azteca dance performances, mariachi music, Latin variety bands, pop-up craft activations, delicious food, and opportunities to participate in meaningful traditions such as contributing to a community altar (ofrenda). The event also includes a curated mercado, special photo moments, and plenty of family activities throughout the plaza.
Live Entertainment Schedule
- 4:00 – 5:00 PM: Azteca Dance Group
- 5:00 – 6:00 PM: Latin Variety Band Shekere
- 6:00 – 6:30 PM: Tres Amigos Mariachi Band
- 6:30 – 8:00 PM: Latin Variety Band Shekere (Encore Performance)
For the second consecutive year, City Place proudly partners with ALMAAHH — Advocates of a Latino Museum of Cultural and Visual Arts & Archive Complex in Houston, Harris County. This partnership continues to honor and highlight Latino culture, art, and heritage across the Greater Houston area.
Visitors can also take part in craft activations, explore the mercado’s unique vendors, and capture the evening’s beauty at special photo stations surrounded by colorful décor and altars that celebrate loved ones who have passed.
