Dragon Tennis Players and Pole Vaulters Take Individual Honors, Girls Golf Team Wins

This March, The John Cooper School Dragon Tennis Players and Pole Vaulters took individual honors plus the Girls Golf Team become Tournament Champions.

VARSITY GOLF

The John Cooper School Varsity Golf Teams played on March 18 at LSA Invitational located at the Clear Creek Golf Club.

Girls Team won and became Tournament Champions! Team total 349

  • Stella Northcott 77• Runner Up Medalist
  • Angela Jiang 84 • 3rd place
  • Betty Mota 93 • 9th place

Boys Team •  Runners Up. Team total: 332

  • Jack Teague 75 Individual Tournament Champion
  • Elias Boles 80 • 6th place
  • Max Wheeler 87 • 11th place

VARSITY BASEBALL

The John Cooper School Varsity Baseball Team played on 3/11-14 at the Fort Lauderdale Classic Tournament. View the following results below:

  • vs. Palmetto High School • 9-1 L
  • vs. ABF Academy Hialeah • 12-3 L
  • vs. Forest Hill Community High School • 14-4 L
  • vs. Dwyer High School • 6-1 L

Coach Domonique Lewis shared, “The Dragons dropped four games in Florida. The first three games came by 8-run rule. Against the toughest team on the road trip, the Dragons played their best game, losing 6-1, however the game was played with zero errors on defense and two walks by the pitching staff.
During the trip, offensive leaders were Jackson Todd-4 hits, Zac Turner-4 hits, and Charlie Heard-3 hits. Nick Hagle had a great pitching performance going 4.2 innings and allowing two earned runs.”

The John Cooper School Varsity Baseball Team played Houston Christian (11-1 L) on March 19. The Dragons opened SPC play this week with Houston Christian.

VARSITY SOFTBALL

The John Cooper Varsity Softball team played Legacy Sports (16-3 L) on March 19.

Coach Nicole Hedden shared, “The Dragons collected a total of 10 hits. Leah Ruckman led Cooper with two runs batted in. She went two-for-three on the day. Daniella Villarreal went three-for-three at the plate to lead the Dragons in hits. Cameron Patterson had two hits in three at-bats and stole three bases.”

VARSITY TENNIS

The John Cooper School Varsity Tennis Team (boys) played Strake Jesuit (L) on March 20.

On 3/22-23 the team played at the SPC Individual Tournament at St. Stephen’s Episcopal*.

Coach Jill DelRio stated,” Mahir Khurana and Erika Olson won the SPC Individual Tournament, St. Stephen’s Invitational boys and girls singles out 11 SPC schools.”

Abby Zubay and Emma Angelkov won consolation doubles.

The John Cooper School Varsity Track and Field participated 3/21-23 at Victor Lopez Classic, Rice University.

  • Milla Signorelli 2nd place pole vault (11’6”)
