Four-year-old Charlie Haydon Recognized as Market Street’s “Lighting Luminary” Nov. 18
THE WOODLANDS, TX – Four-year-old Charlie Haydon and his family have been selected to light up Market Street and its 70-foot Christmas tree as part of the Tree Lighting at Market Street in Central Park on Thursday, November 18 at 6:00 pm.
The Haydon family will accompany Charlie as he flips the switch to officially kick off the holiday season and start Market Street’s three-minute holiday light show, a dazzling display of flashing, multi-colored lights synchronized to holiday songs.
Charlie was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) at just 16 months of age. He is now in remission, but continues to check-in regularly at Texas Children’s Hospital for bloodwork.
His mother, Stacy, shares that the first year of treatment was challenging, with many ER visits and hospital stays while fighting other illnesses at the same time, such as chicken pox.
“We are so thankful to live so close to Texas Children’s Hospital – The Woodlands campus. Between that and our family nearby, we have been fortunate to have a great support system.”
Texas Children’s Hospital – The Woodlands is the official sponsors for the 2021 Market Street Tree Lighting. Market Street has honored a deserving child or family to start the holiday season at the shopping and dining destination since 2004.
The tree lighting will attract hundreds to witness the first “performance” of Market Street’s Christmas tree and the more than 25,000 multi-colored lights adorning the destination’s Central Park. The synchronized holiday light performance will continue evenings during the holidays, every hour on the half hour, from 5:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
Kicking off a holiday season of events, the celebration continues with live musical performances and entertainment.
Market Street is located in the heart of The Woodlands Town Center at the corner of Six Pines Drive and Lake Robbins Drive.
