Habitat for Humanity celebrates Next Community in Magnolia with Foundation Ceremony
Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County, Texas (Habitat MCTX) ushered in a new chapter in its mission with the Marble Creek Foundation Ceremony, a milestone event that marked the beginning of its next large-scale neighborhood. The launch of Marble Creek represents the future of affordable homeownership in Montgomery County and will provide more than 200 families with a place to build stability and hope.
Marble Creek is located on 81 acres in Magnolia, generously donated by the Chimenti family. Infrastructure for the neighborhood is complete, and home construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2026. The ceremony also recognized the nearing completion of Cedar Creek, the organization’s current neighborhood in Conroe. Cedar Creek will welcome its final four families in spring 2026, bringing the community to a total of 129 homes.

“This day marks a powerful moment for us,” said Vicki Johnson, Executive Director of Habitat MCTX. “Marble Creek will open doors for hundreds of families, and this community reflects the generosity, belief, and shared commitment of the people who stand with us. We are deeply grateful.”
A major announcement was made during the ceremony. Inspired by Giving Tuesday, an anonymous donor has committed $100,000 each year for the next five years to the Marble Creek Capital Campaign.
Program speakers included Board President Michael Bradbury, Pastor Cory Johnson of Magnolia Cowboy Church, Executive Director Vicki Johnson, Deputy Director Erik Armstrong, Commissioner Charlie Riley of Montgomery County Precinct 2, Charles Merdian of LGI Homes, who is a former Board President and current Board Member, Chef Austin Simmons with Chef and Rancher, and Father Jesse Garcia Pastor of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.
During the ceremony, Armstrong shared the story of Elizabeth, a future Marble Creek homeowner. Tears filled the space as her story was read aloud. Elizabeth is a single mother and a special education teacher in Magnolia ISD. She and her son have shared a one-bedroom apartment for years, and she has worked tirelessly to create stability for her family. After discovering Habitat MCTX’s homeownership program, she found the support and guidance she needed to pursue a home of her own. Her words expressed hope, relief, and gratitude for the chance to build a brighter future, and her presence reminded attendees of the profound impact Marble Creek will have on families across the county.

The ceremony included donor recognition and a surprise announcement of the 2026 Building Hope Gala honorees: the Marble Creek Planning and Diligence Committees, recognized for their vision, leadership, and years of dedication to the project.

Guests had the opportunity to write Hope Notes at a special station during the event. These personal messages of encouragement will be shared with future homeowners and their families on move-in day. Attendees also had the chance to sign the studs of future Marble Creek homes, adding Bible verses and words of hope that will leave a lasting mark of support for the community.

Following the program, lunch was provided through the generosity of renowned Chef Austin Simmons of Chef and Rancher, who prepared gourmet burgers for attendees. arc electric + lighting and Beyond Bartending also served as lunch sponsors.
Momentum for Marble Creek will continue in spring 2026 with a Blitz Build of the first four homes. The Blitz Build is sponsored by Matt Powers Custom Homes and Renovations, Laura Powers Property Group, and LGI Homes.
“This is a transformational moment for Habitat MCTX,” said Johnson. “Together, we are building homes, communities, and hope. Marble Creek will uplift families for decades, and we invite everyone who believes in our mission to join us in supporting the Marble Creek Capital Campaign.”
Community members are invited to learn more and support the Marble Creek Capital Campaign at habitatmctx.org. Donors can include a Hope Note message in the online donation comments, and Habitat MCTX staff will handwrite the message on a card for a future homeowner.
