High-Risk New Year’s Travel Period met with Countywide DWI Enforcement
During the New Year’s holiday, one of the busiest and highest-risk travel periods of the year, law enforcement agencies across Montgomery County participated in a coordinated DWI Task Force Initiative aimed at deterring impaired driving and protecting the public.
From December 31, 2025, through January 3, 2026, coordinated, high-visibility enforcement efforts resulted in 49 arrests for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) out of approximately 442 traffic stops. These operations were focused on deterring impaired driving and enhancing roadway safety. Four (4) of the 49 DWI-related arrests involved individuals who were stopped with active warrants for DWI and subsequently arrested on those warrants.
Of the total arrests, 11 involved felony offenses and 38 involved misdemeanor offenses.

“This initiative reflects the strong collaboration among our law enforcement partners and the importance of sustained, visible enforcement,” said Montgomery County District Attorney Mike Holley. “These efforts are not about numbers — they are about prevention, accountability, and protecting families on our roadways.”
“Every DWI arrest represents a case that must be handled carefully and responsibly,” said Chief Prosecutor Taylor Vanegas. “Our role is ensuring these cases are prosecuted with integrity, accuracy, and a focus on public safety from start to finish.”
The New Year’s Eve DWI Task Force Initiative was a collaborative effort involving the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Conroe Police Department, Montgomery County Constable Precincts 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, as well as the Magnolia Police Department, Montgomery Police Department, Splendora Police Department, Oak Ridge North Police Department, and Roman Forest Police Departments. The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office thanks all participating agencies and the law enforcement professionals who work tirelessly to keep our roads safe for their continued partnership and dedication to public safety.
