“This recognition is an outstanding achievement that demonstrates our dedication to safety, quality, service, and innovation in the delivery of patient care,” said Debbie Sukin, Executive Vice President of Houston Methodist, Chief Executive Officer of Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital. “National recognitions like this would not be possible without every member of our medical and hospital staff committed to achieving our mission of unparalleled every day.”

The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization, assigns A, B, C, D and F letter grades to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries, and infections, as well as systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm. Hospital ratings are based exclusively on hospital prevention of medical errors and harms to patients. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
