Houston Symphony celebrates the music of Queen at the Pavilion

By  |

On Thursday, September 30, the Houston Symphony returned to The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion’s Main Stage for an evening featuring a variety of Queen classics including “We Will Rock You,” “Bohemian Rhapsody,” and “Somebody to Love.”

The musical tribute was sponsored by Huntsman and offering free seating to guests in the mezzanine. Bridging the gap between rock n’ roll and classical music, conductor/arranger Brent Havens took the podium to present Windborne’s ultimate rock show, The Music of Queen, a program he scored to extend the listening experience of Queen’s exceptional tunes. Performed by an orchestra and amplified with a full rock band and vocals, Havens and his ensemble capture Queen’s distinct sound while presenting some familiar and lots of new musical colors.
