Major Road Closure due to Downed Power Lines on Sawdust Road
This morning, the Office of Commissioner Precinct 3 Ritch Wheeler shared there is a major road closure due to downed power lines.
Major Road Closure Information
Where: Sawdust Road between Golden Road and South Millbend Drive
What: Live down power lines across road
Traffic Impact: All east-west traffic using Sawdust Road between Glen Loch Drive and South Millbend Drive should use alternate route
Duration: CenterPoint is working to repair power poles and clear lines. ETA is not until at least 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 24, if not longer
Cause: Overnight accident; vehicle struck power pole around 3 a.m.
Note: Precinct 3 Commissioner’s Office crews are assisting Sheriff’s Office and CenterPoint with blocking roads and re-routing traffic.
UPDATE 10/24/25 7:41 am: Precinct 3 crews have been out since 3 a.m. setting up barricades and working traffic control in response to the accident on Sawdust Road at South Millbend to help motorists circumvent the major road closure.
Centerpoint believes the repairs will last well into the afternoon so residents can expect Sawdust Road to be closed to through traffic for several hours between Glen Loch Drive and South Millbend.
Local traffic west of South Millbend Drive should use Glen Loch Drive to access their communities for the time being.
