By  |

As part of its Change for Charity initiative, Market Street recently donated $11,500 to Keep Us Fed Montgomery County. Keep Us Fed Montgomery County has a mission to alleviate hunger and reduce food waste by rescuing and redistributing excess nutritional food for neighbors in need. 40% of food is wasted in the United States, yet more than 16% of people face food insecurity. Keep Us Fed aims to bridge the gap between excess and need in Montgomery County by making healthy food available.

Each quarter Market Street selects a nonprofit to benefit from the Change for Charity program, whereby Market Street patrons deposit change in the voluntary meters bordering Market Street’s Central Park. Since its inception, the program has raised more than $350,000 for local charities.
