MCSO Deputy honored following $26,000 Organized Retail Theft Investigation
The following is a press release received on April 2, 2026 at 2:48 p.m. from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce the successful conclusion of a significant organized retail theft investigation and the subsequent recognition of Deputy Adam Johnson for his outstanding investigative work.
The investigation began in February of this year when MCSO Patrol Deputies and Detectives were made aware of reported thefts in The Woodlands and surrounding areas involving over-the-counter drugs from local pharmacies. On February 17, a theft was reported at a Walgreens on College Park Drive in The Woodlands.
Deputy Johnson responded to the call for service and quickly realized the incident fit the specific motive of operation of other thefts reported in the area.
Upon reviewing video surveillance from the scene, Deputy Johnson was able to identify a suspect vehicle and obtained a search warrant for the suspects address. During the service of that warrant, authorities discovered and seized more than $26,000 worth of over-the-counter drugs. An arrest warrant for Felony Organized Retail Theft was executed on 40-year-old [suspect] who was arrested on March 6, 2026, and transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

In recognition of his relentless pursuit of justice, Deputy Adam Johnson was honored yesterday by the Gulf Coast Criminal Investigators Association during an award ceremony held at the Houston Police Officers Union. Deputy Johnson was awarded a plaque for his investigative excellence, dedication, and attention to detail, specifically highlighting his collaboration with corporate partners in combating organized retail theft. Sheriff Doolittle was in attendance to personally congratulate Deputy Johnson.
