By  |

THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS – Residents are invited to kick off summer in The Woodlands at the Memorial Day Event taking place Sunday, May 27, 2018, from 4 to 9 p.m. at Town Green Park, located at 2099 Lake Robbins Drive. The Sunday event will feature fireworks, live music, children’s activities, a keynote speaker, a Community Covenant signing, strolling entertainers and more.

The festival pays tribute to all military service men and women who lost their lives while serving the United States, and also honors all veterans who serve as a symbol for those who paid the ultimate sacrifice of life to protect our freedom. This year’s keynote speaker will be COL (R) Randall M. Pais, Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army (Texas-East).

A Community Covenant Signing Ceremony will take place at approximately 6 p.m. at the stage. The signing of a Joint Community Covenant solidifies the Township’s support of our local service members, veterans and their families for their commitment and sacrifices to our country in efforts to protect our freedom.

Additionally, the event will feature live music by The Blue Grooves and the Level One Band, concluding with a dazzling fireworks display along The Woodlands Waterway choreographed to a patriotic soundtrack at approximately 8:55 p.m., weather permitting. Activities including inflatables, face painting and strolling entertainment may be enjoyed. A care package drop-off booth will be available onsite to accept donations of recommended items to be shipped to the troops. View a list of recommended items.

Families are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs. Concessions will be available for purchase from a variety of food vendors. Applications are still being accepted for businesses, organizations, food vendors and sponsors. For more information or an application, please email
