1. Why do you enjoy living (and working, if applicable) in The Woodlands?

The Woodlands gives my wife, Valarie, and me the kind of community we want for our children. We have beautiful parks and pathways, strong schools, outstanding amenities, and neighbors who genuinely care about where they live.

Our family lives in Creekside Park, where we enjoy the trails, parks, and taking our children to the local archery range. These are not simply amenities. They are part of the life we are building together.

What makes The Woodlands truly different is that it was built within nature, not after nature was cleared away. The trees are not decoration. They are part of our identity. This community has a beauty, character, and soul that cannot be manufactured somewhere else. Once that is lost, we will not get it back.

2. What motivates you to run for The Woodlands Township Board of Directors?

I have spent much of my adult life serving others, first as a soldier and later through business and community leadership. When several respected local leaders encouraged me to run, I took a hard look at where my experience could make a difference.

During my career with a global Fortune 500 oil and gas company, I managed P&Ls, multimillion-dollar budgets, complex operations, and teams across multiple locations. I also served as Community Affairs Director and built a global veteran program that hired thousands of veterans and helped veterans facing homelessness, PTS, and the difficult transition into civilian careers.

I am running because The Woodlands deserves directors with real-world experience who will do their homework, ask hard questions, exercise independent judgment, and remember that they answer to the residents. This is an opportunity to continue a lifetime of service by giving back to the community where Valarie and I are raising our children.

3. If elected, what would your top 3 priorities as a Township Board of Director be? How would you work to impact/shape the future of The Woodlands?

PRIORITY ONE: PUBLIC SAFETY

The Woodlands is not surrounded by a wall, and the threats facing the Houston region do not stop at our borders. I applaud the Board’s recent unanimous agreement with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office to establish the first sworn law-enforcement mounted patrol in The Woodlands and Montgomery County.

I will continue strengthening our partnerships with the Sheriff’s Office, constables, firefighters, and other first responders. Our security must match the threat, and public-safety resources should go toward trained professionals with the authority and ability to act when seconds matter. Those efforts must also remain accountable, transparent, and respectful of the constitutional rights of our residents.

PRIORITY TWO: FISCAL DISCIPLINE AND ACCOUNTABILITY

Township residents deserve disciplined budgets, low taxes, transparency, and measurable value for every dollar spent. The no-new-revenue tax rate should be our goal whenever the numbers responsibly allow it.

I will bring the same approach I used while managing multimillion-dollar budgets in the private sector: establish clear priorities, scrutinize expenses, eliminate waste, and demand accountability. Every dollar must earn its place in the budget, and major contracts and partnerships must withstand public scrutiny. Government should live within its means just as families and businesses must.

PRIORITY THREE: PRESERVING THE CHARACTER OF THE WOODLANDS

Growth around us is inevitable. Losing what makes The Woodlands special is not.

I will work to protect our trees, parks, pathways, public spaces, and quality of life while addressing traffic, drainage, infrastructure, and future development responsibly. Major decisions should be made openly, based on facts, and with meaningful input from residents. The people who live here should have a real voice in shaping the future of their community.

4. Would you like to share any other words or a message to The Woodlands community?

I was born in Vietnam and came to America as a five-year-old refugee after escaping during the fall of Saigon. The United States Navy rescued my father and me at sea, and this country gave our family freedom and a second chance.

I later served 13 years in the United States Army and became a combat veteran who fought in Desert Storm, Afghanistan, and Iraq. After my military service, I built a career in business and community leadership and became a Harvard Business School alumnus, having completed the Program for Leadership Development.

Those experiences taught me that leadership is not about having the loudest voice in the room. It is about preparation, sound judgment, accountability, and the courage to act when a decision must be made.

I am not running to remake The Woodlands into something else. I am running to preserve what works, protect what matters, and help ensure that the community we leave our children is as special as the one we enjoy today. I would be honored to earn your vote for The Woodlands Township Board of Directors, Position 3.
