Pavilion holds Annual Star-Spangled Salute with Houston Symphony

By  |

The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion kicked off America’s birthday celebration with a host of patriotic favorites under the stars. On Sunday, July 3, the Houston Symphony performed on the Main Stage for the Annual Star-Spangled Salute presented by The Howard Hughes Corporation. The free Independence Eve spectacular has been a tradition at The Pavilion for over 30 seasons.

The symphony performed a variety of Americana favorites led by conductor Steven Reineke and featured vocalist Darryl Jovan Williams.

Pre-concert activities began at 6:30 p.m. in the North and South Plazas and featured photo opportunities with patriotic characters, a special art project, The Pavilion Partners Instrument Petting Zoo and sponsor activations. Pre-show entertainment in front of the Main Stage was provided by The Woodlands Show Chorus, an award winning women’s auditioned a cappella chorus comprised of nearly 80 singers.
