Hello Woodlands gave the opportunity to candidates running for Conroe ISD Board of Trustees to complete a written interview including the same five (5) questions. View candidate’s responses to our questions, if provided.

The Conroe Independent School District election for Trustee Positions 1, 2, and 3 will be November 8, 2022. Board members are elected for four (4) year terms.

CONROE ISD BOARD OF TRUSTEES – 2022 CANDIDATE

Ray Sanders is running for Conroe ISD Board of Trustees Position 2.

1. Share about yourself and your background.

I was first elected to the Conroe ISD Board in November 2010, and have served the taxpayers, students, teachers, and staff for the past 12 years. I am the son of a public school teacher and have lived in Montgomery County since June 1995. My wife and I have been married for 40 years and raised two daughters who are both graduates from Conroe ISD. I am a banker, a Licensed Professional Counselor, a National Certified Counselor, a Licensed Minister, and a Pastoral Counselor at Celebration Church in The Woodlands. I have a BBA in Finance and a MA in Counseling from Sam Houston State University. I have also held past leadership roles on the Conroe ISD Board as President, Secretary, and Audit Committee Chair. I have also served as Chairman of the Board for The Woodlands Area EDP, The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce, Interfaith of The Woodlands, and Interfaith Community Clinic.

2. What motivates you to run for the Conroe ISD Board of Trustees?

I am concerned about the growth in our District and want to offer my experience and expertise in managing growth while continuing the great tradition of providing students with a quality education that prepares them for their dreams beyond High School graduation.

3. What are 5 things that you want voters to know about you (personal, points, views, experience, etc.)?

I am a voice a reason, who will listen to all points of view and will work to collaborate with everyone to bring about the best outcomes for the District.  I am fair and reasonable. I have a vast amount of experience working with budgets and money and can assist in assuring funds are spent effectively and efficiently. I am a man of faith who cares about my community. I have faithfully served this community for many years in volunteer service and want what is best for our community.

4. If elected, what would your top 3 priorities be?

Managing Growth, Safety & Security, State Funding more for Public Schools

5. Would you like to share any other words or message?

I am running to assure every student in our District matters, that taxpayer money is spent wisely and efficiently, and to support  the continued improvement in the District’s graduation rate so that students become responsible adults who can feel proud of our District.
