ReadyWoodlands Emergency Preparedness Event to share how to stay safe for emergencies

Join The Woodlands Township for the ReadyWoodlands emergency preparedness event—a free, family-friendly experience that makes safety skills fun and easy to learn. The event will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Woodlands Township Townhall, 2801 Technology Forest Blvd.

This free community event is designed to equip families with the tools and confidence needed to stay safe before, during and after emergencies. Attendees will gain practical knowledge on preparing for hurricanes and other potential situations, while connecting with local organizations and agencies that provide critical resources and support.

Throughout the event, guests can participate in interactive workshops featuring essential, life-saving skills such as CPR, proper fire extinguisher use and other important safety practices. Informative presentations will be offered, including sessions led by presenting sponsor CenterPoint Energy, highlighting utility preparedness and power restoration processes following major events.

Families will also have the chance to enjoy giveaways and door prizes from event sponsors, including a portable generator generously donated by Lowe’s of The Woodlands.

Fun and Learning for Kids
Young residents will discover that preparedness can be both empowering and fun through a variety of hands-on activities designed just for them.

Children can:

  • Create their own first aid kit
  • Practice a simulated 9-1-1 call
  • Learn fire safety and Exit Drills in the Home (EDITH)
  • Meet Smokey Bear and McGruff the Crime Dog
  • Participate in a scavenger hunt for prizes
  • Enjoy crafts and interactive games
