Sawmill Road Closure due to Hailey Elementary School improvement project March 8 to 15
On Thursday, March 6, Montgomery County Pct. 3 Commissioner Ritch Wheeler’s Office shared the following road closure update:
As part of the ongoing Hailey Elementary School improvement project on the campus, the Conroe ISD construction contractor must upgrade the storm sewer facilities crossing underneath Sawmill Road at two locations. To limit disruptions for the three schools along Sawmill Road, the contractor will be shutting down Sawmill Road (from Grogan’s Mill Road to Sawdust Road) to through traffic over Spring Break (March 8-15).
The goal is to have storm sewer construction and road repaving completed and lanes reopened by Saturday, March 15, prior to the restart of school on Monday, March 17.

Important Notes:
- WHAT: Sawmill Road closed to through traffic in both directions between Grogan’s Mill Road and Sawdust Road
- WHEN: Starting Saturday, March 8, and reopening Saturday, March 15
- IMPACT: Access to residences, businesses and churches will be maintained – with some traffic pattern modifications (Detour signage in place to guide traffic)
