UPDATE 8/27/25 4:48pm – Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Arrest Former Memorial Hermann Employee for Invasive Visual Recording
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Robert Shrader, 41, a former employee of Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center, on felony charges of Invasive Visual Recording. The arrest follows an investigation into hidden recording devices found in hospital restrooms.
The case was brought to the attention of the Sheriff’s Office on Friday, August 22, 2025. Detectives with the Major Crimes unit, working in close cooperation with Memorial Hermann staff, were able to quickly gather multiple pieces of evidence and identify Schrader as the suspect.
The investigation revealed that the hidden recording devices were concealed within ceiling tiles adjacent to exhaust fans in two unisex restrooms. One restroom was located on the second floor across from the labor and delivery unit, and the other was on the third floor inside the Medical Surgical Unit.
Detectives are currently analyzing seized digital devices to determine the full scope of the recording period and the total number of victims.
“We understand that this is a tremendous violation of privacy,” said Montgomery County Sheriff Doolittle. “For individuals who were already dealing with the stress of being in a hospital, to learn that their privacy was violated in such a way is truly unconscionable. This is a perversion that we will not tolerate in our community. We are sympathetic to our victims and are committed to bringing them justice. Our investigation is ongoing, and we will continue to work tirelessly on their behalf.”
This remains an active investigation. If you believe you may have been a victim of covert recording at Memorial Hermann the Woodlands Medical Center, please send an email to mhtwtips@mctx.org. Include your name and reliable contact information so detectives can easily reach you.
