Sheriff’s Office: Suspect’s reckless actions result in tragic death of pedestrian
At approximately 2:15 PM, members of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, assigned to the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force, were attempting to apprehend Joseph Jebbia, 43-years-old, on an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon warrant out of Montgomery County. When deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the suspect, with a blatant disregard for human life and the safety of others, began to evade law enforcement.
During the pursuit, preliminary information suggests that Jebbia ran a red light and subsequently struck another citizen’s vehicle, causing a chain reaction that resulted in the vehicle being driven by Jebbia hitting a pedestrian waiting at a bus stop. Tragically, the pedestrian succumbed to their injuries on the scene.
The suspect continued his reckless evasion, leading law enforcement on a dangerous chase until he eventually crashed near Millwood and Highway 249. Upon his arrest, deputies discovered a loaded rifle, body armor, and drugs in the suspect’s vehicle. Jebbia is currently being transported to the Harris County Jail.
Joseph Jebbia is a career criminal with a history of violence. His actions today demonstrate a complete and reckless disregard for the lives and safety of others, directly resulting in the death of an innocent pedestrian.
Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased during this difficult time.
