Shooting Investigation in Conroe, No threat to the Public

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office reported a Shooting Investigation in Conroe on Friday, September 18, 2026 at 9:25 a.m.

At approximately 6:00 a.m. today, a man in his 70’s died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound outside the Lee Alworth Building. The individual was scheduled to appear in court for sentencing.

The Conroe Police Department is actively investigating the incident and are the primary agency on this scene. There is no threat to the public, and the scene has been secured.

West Phillips Street in front of the Lee Alworth Building will remain closed for an undetermined period while the investigation continues. The Lee Alworth Building is also temporarily closed to all foot traffic.

We ask the public to avoid the area and use alternate routes until further notice.
