Student selected for Glenn Family Summer Internship with Mischer Neuroscience Center at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands
Ashlyn Kuntz, a student at Tulane University, has been named the recipient of the Glenn Family Summer Internship with Mischer Neuroscience Center at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center. The internship is in its second year and has been made possible once again through the generosity of Candi and Gerald Glenn.

With a growing health care worker shortage, it is more important than ever to invest in the education and future of students pursuing a medical career. Memorial Hermann’s affiliated physicians provide safe, personalized and quality care to every member of our community. Dedicated to investing in health care leaders of the future, Memorial Hermann is excited to offer this summer internship to an undergraduate upperclassman planning to attend medical school. The summer internship program takes place at Mischer Neuroscience Center at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands under the leadership of Geoffrey Zubay, MD FACS, Mischer Neuroscience Associates Chief of Neurosurgery and allows the student to have a one-of-a-kind clinical experience.
Many students entering medical school have no prior clinical experience and can often be surprised at the realities of working in a clinical environment. This can lead to burnout or cause a student to abandon the profession all together. By providing students with early clinical experience, they are empowered with the ability to learn the day-to-day expectations of the job and gather valuable insight into the health care specialty they wish to pursue. Working with Dr. Zubay and his associates, Kuntz will be provided the chance to learn more about neuroscience and the high-level neurological care a Level II trauma center is able to provide while deepening her knowledge and providing a truly immersive experience no available in a classroom setting.
“The Glenn family have not only been supporters of education but have also been great supporters and advocates for our neuroscience program, understanding the importance it holds to our community. This program unifies the two causes with their generous contribution for an educational fellowship for students interested in neuroscience,” said Dr. Zubay.
The Glenn family enthusiastically supported this annual initiative with a $50,000 investment to Memorial Hermann Foundation to launch this internship program and sustain it through the summer of 2028. “Dr. Zubay saved my daughter-in-law’s life. We are grateful for the expert care he provides so we were pleased to support emerging leaders that will learn from him,” shared Gerald Glenn. “We are fortunate to live in a community that is home to such acute quality care. We are pleased to support the future health care professionals that will continue to provide this care for our dear community,” added Candi Glenn.
