The John Cooper School celebrates Black History Month with Inspiring Reception and Evening Viewing

By  |

The John Cooper School proudly hosted its annual Black History Month Reception and Evening Viewing on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, inside The Rock Math + Science Center, bringing together students, faculty, and the community to honor the achievements and contributions of Black Americans to U.S. history and culture.

The evening featured insightful student speeches, a curated month-long exhibit, and an opportunity for attendees to engage in meaningful conversations about Black history. Guests also enjoyed light refreshments while exploring the creative and historical inspirations behind the exhibits. The event successfully provided a platform for Dragons to share their knowledge and perspectives, fostering deeper connections and understanding among the local community.

“It’s about making sure the next generation doesn’t just read about history, but makes history. You are the next leaders, innovators, and history makers,” said student speaker Jaiden Briscoe ‘25. “There’s always more to be done. I’m still on my journey, still learning, still growing. And you should do the same.”

“We have a tremendous opportunity at The John Cooper School for students to do just that – make history,” exclaimed Head of School Dr. Stephen Popp.
