The Recreation Center at Bear Branch Park closed temporarily due to COVID-19 exposure

The Woodlands Township has closed The Recreation Center at Bear Branch Park temporarily due to an employee testing positive for COVID-19.

The facility will be closed today, Monday, June 29, 2020, and Tuesday, June 30, 2020, for cleaning and disinfecting and to provide proper notification to all who may have been in contact with the employee.  Sunny Dayz Camp at Bear Branch Park is suspended for the week of June 29 through July 3.  The facility and program re-opening will be announced later, pending the completion of safety and sanitization procedures.

The employee worked the below shifts at The Recreation Center at Bear Branch Park:

  • June 15 – 19, 2020: Noon to 6 p.m.
  • June 22 – 25, 2020: 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Township staff members undergo daily temperature screenings upon reporting to work along with being asked a variety of questions regarding possible coronavirus exposure. The employee who tested positive was screened each day and did not present with an elevated temperature.

The Woodlands Township is working diligently to ensure the safety of all residents and visitors to Township facilities, pools, parks and amenities. 

“We are doing everything possible to ensure employees’ and the public’s safety,” said Dr. Chris Nunes, Township Director of Parks and Recreation.
