The Woodlands Children’s Museum hosts Lunar New Year Celebration of the Fire Horse

By  |

The Year of the Fire Horse is a rare event that happens only once every 60 years, symbolizing a time of bold action, fast-paced change, and “Double Fire” energy. To match this high-energy spirit, the Houston Lion Kings will perform in their spectacular, theatrical lion costumes, bringing ancient traditions to life through a mix of athletic skill, teamwork, and rich cultural music at The Woodlands Children’s Museum.

As part of its commitment to honoring traditional Asian arts, the museum will host the vibrant Houston Lion Kings for four performances on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at 10:30a.m., 11:30a.m., 12:30p.m., and 1:30p.m. Guests will also have a chance to take photos with the performers and are invited to create unique cultural art projects.

“The Fire Horse ignites the Lunar New Year with an internal flame,” stated Angela Colton, Executive Director of The Woodlands Children’s Museum. “For children, this year represents a new sense of direction and a spirit of bold action. At the museum, our goal is to help children harness this inner fire into purposeful momentum while playing and learning in our exhibits.”

The Woodlands Children’s Museum offers a unique opportunity for families to welcome this powerful year together. The Year of the Fire Horse is more than just a date on the calendar, it is an invitation for children to embrace their adventurous spirits and find confidence in their own abilities. Through the thunderous drums of the Lion Dance and the quiet focus of cultural art, young visitors will leave the museum not only with a deeper appreciation for Asian heritage but with the inspiration to turn their own “inner fire” into a year of incredible growth and discovery.
