UPDATE: The Woodlands Firefighter transported by Life Flight after fan injury

UPDATE 6/27 11:42am – This morning The Woodlands Fire Department shared an update stating, “Firefighter Rigoni is doing well and expected to be released from the hospital this weekend. Thank you for the tremendous outpouring of support for both Firefighter Rigoni and TWFD.”

The Woodlands Fire Department also shared a statement from The Woodlands Township that shared the following:

“At approximately 6:55 a.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2025, Firefighter John Rigoni of The Woodlands Fire Department sustained significant injuries while performing routine checks on a fire truck at Station 7. During the inspection, he came into contact with the station’s overhead ventilation fan, resulting in serious injuries.

Rigoni received immediate aid from his fellow crew members and Harris County Emergency Service District 11 Medic 407. Due to the nature of his injuries, he was airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center for further evaluation. His current condition is reported as serious but stable.

The Harris County Constable’s Office, Precinct 4 along with Montgomery County Hospital District Medic 23 and District 2, responded to assist at the scene. The Woodlands Township is following established protocols related to employees injured while on shift.”

ORIGINAL 6/26 4:13pm – This morning, Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office shared that a firefighter was struck by a fan at The Woodlands Fire Station 7 in Creekside Park and was transported via life flight due to the nature of the injuries.

“Deputies with Constable Mark Herman’s Office responded to the 26700 block of Kuykendal Road to assist ESD 11 with life flight. It was reported that a firefighter was struck by a fan in the bay of the fire house. The firefighter was transported via life flight due to the nature of the injuries. Prayers for a full and speedy recovery!”

Montgomery County Judge Mark Keough also shared a statement this morning: “Please keep The Woodlands Fire Department in your prayers today. Earlier this morning a firefighter was injured at their station and was flown via life flight to downtown Houston.”
