Village Books’ and Reading Is Revolutionary’s next storytelling challenge June 29
Stories are how we’ve made sense of the world for millennia—and at Reading Is Revolutionary, we believe those voices still matter. That’s why, in partnership with the Blue Lion Pub, we’re proud to host our next Storytelling Challenge on Sunday, June 29 at 4 PM, right in the heart of The Woodlands.
This is no ordinary open mic. It’s an intergenerational storytelling challenge where anyone—from first-time tellers to seasoned wordsmiths—can step up to the mic and share a story. No props, no notes—just 10 minutes and a room full of listeners.
“Stories are how we pass down truth—not just facts, but emotional truth. At a time when we’re more connected digitally but more divided emotionally, live storytelling brings us back to what matters: listening, laughter, and shared humanity,” says Teresa Kenney, owner of Village Books and founder of Reading Is Revolutionary. “This challenge isn’t about perfection—it’s about presence. And when someone is brave enough to stand up and speak from the heart, it creates a ripple effect that reaches everyone in the room.”
Previous Storytelling Challenges have featured tales that are laugh-out-loud funny, heartbreakingly honest, and everything in between. Each event is a celebration of voice, vulnerability, and community.
