Texas A&M Forest Service will notify surrounding city and fire officials, residents, and forest users through email and posted signage in nearby right-of-ways. Firefighters and equipment will be on-site as a precaution.
For safety reasons, certain areas of the forest will be closed to the public during the burn including Middle Lake Trail and the Middle Lake picnic and fishing area.
Texas A&M Forest Service burn managers implement strategies to disperse smoke safely and minimize public nuisance and health impacts by following a specific, preapproved burn plan detailing fuel types, ignition techniques, and expected smoke production. Weather conditions are continuously monitored to ensure safety parameters are met and ventilation can carry smoke away from sensitive areas.
