Young Texas Artists Holds Classical Music Competition, Gala

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX – Nonprofit arts organization Young Texas Artists (YTA), which has helped launch the careers of nearly 3,000 classical musicians, is about to present its two biggest events of the year: the Young Texas Artists Music Competition and the Bach, Beethoven & Barbecue gala.

The Annual Young Texas Artists Music Competition is for classical artists ages 18-30 (20-32 for Voice) who are Texas residents or affiliated with a Texas music school. It is the only classical music competition in Texas offering four performance divisions: Voice; Piano; Strings; and Winds, Brass, Percussion, Harp and Guitar.

Contestants vie for a share of $40,000 in monetary prizes, along with career mentoring and performance opportunities. The competition culminates in the Finalists’ Concert & Awards, where finalists in each division perform for a live audience and a panel of judges. At the end of the program, YTA announces its medalists, along with the Grand Prize and Audience Choice Award winners. Also planned is a performance by guest of honor Anastasia Markina, YTA’s 2007 Grand Prize winner and Dallas Symphony pianist.

The Bach, Beethoven & Barbecue gala is YTA’s biggest fundraiser of the year. During the gala, attendees can enjoy a Texas barbecue dinner with all of the trimmings and dance to Texas music by Bill Mock & His Highway 105 Band. The evening also features a live auction.

YTA is now accepting reservations to the Finalists’ Concert & Awards and the gala. The Bach, Beethoven & Barbecue gala will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2023. The Finalists’ Concert & Awards will begin at 7:30 p.m. The events are held at the Grand Pavilion and Crighton Theatre, 234 N. Main St., Downtown Cultural District of Conroe, Texas.

Young Texas Artists, founded in 1983, is a one-of-a-kind nonprofit presenter of music competitions and events, career development programs and cultural enrichment outreach. The nationally acclaimed Young Texas Artists Music Competition and the YTA Career Development Program provide professional guidance, mentoring and highly sought performance experience.

An Official Music Competition of the State of Texas, it is one of the few competitions in the nation with four performance divisions: Voice; Piano; Strings; and Winds, Brass, Percussion, Harp and Guitar.
