THE WOODLANDS, TX – The John Cooper School is pleased to present the 16th Annual Signatures Author Series on Friday, December 4, featuring Jesmyn Ward, two-time National Book Award winner and bestselling author. Frequently likened to such authors as William Faulkner and Toni Morrison, Ward’s richly drawn characters and distinctive poetic style of writing illuminates the Black experience in America. Her three novels, Where the Line Bleeds, Salvage the Bones, and Sing, Unburied, Sing, are all set on the Gulf Coast and tell tales of hope and struggle.
The much-anticipated Signatures luncheon event, held at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel and Convention Center, also features visiting authors, book signings, a VIP reception and an auction of an item signed by the author. A portion of the proceeds from the event will go to a local literacy organization. The venue requires masks and social distancing for all attendees and staff.
Table and underwriting sponsorships are available at varying levels online www.johncooper.org/signatures as well as individual reservations for $150 each. A virtual ticket option is also available. Information and applications to participate as a Visiting Author are also available online and are being accepted through October 9 to be included in pre-event publicity.
