Reports of icing on overpasses, bridges, and roads across Montgomery County

By  |

UPDATE 1/16/24: On Tuesday, January 16 at 11:45 a.m. the Office of Commissioner James Noack Precinct 3 shared an update stating, “We have opened the northbound and southbound Woodlands Parkway flyovers and the 242 flyover westbound. We were happy to assist TXDOT with closing and opening those flyovers! All roads, bridges and flyovers in Precinct 3 are open.”

Earlier in the morning of January 16 at 4:33 a.m., the Montgomery County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management reported the following:

“Icy conditions exist on most roadways, overpasses and elevated surfaces. DO NOT get out on the roads unless you absolutely have to. We are not expected to climb above freezing today, and with the sunny conditions the ice will melt in the daytime sun only to hard freeze again this evening when temperatures plummet. Commissioners Crews and TxDOT worked for a third night in a row treating roads to minimize icy conditions as much as possible. No treatment is absolute and drivers are urged to use caution if you must travel.

“All schools are closed today. Non-essential county offices are closed today as well. Please help our first responders who worked over 85 crashes yesterday by staying off the roadways and at home.”
