Man Sentenced to Life in Prison for Sexual Abuse of Multiple Children
On June 6, 2024, a Montgomery County jury assessed a Life sentence for Jose Antonio Pineda for the offense of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child under 14.
On Monday, June 3, 2024, Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office prosecutors selected a jury and began testimony in the State of Texas vs. Jose Antonio Pineda for the charge of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child Under 14.
Assistant District Attorneys Sara Corradi and Carmen Morales presented evidence that Pineda sexually abused three children over the course of at least 7 years. All three victims bravely testified in front of Pineda, detailing the horrific abuse that he inflicted on each of them for years.
On Wednesday, June 5, 2024, the jury returned a guilty verdict and heard from a witness who testified that Pineda gave her and other children alcohol then took a young girl into a locked room. That same witness detailed Pineda attempting to touch her later that same night while she slept. Two of the victims testified again, detailing the struggles they have overcome as a result of surviving Pineda’s repeated abuse and the lasting impact of keeping the abuse secret before finally telling someone. Several members of the Defendant’s family testified that they would allow Pineda around their children after any release and Pineda’s own testimony revealed that his family had allowed him access to a young child despite everyone knowing that his bond conditions prohibited contact with anyone under 18 years old. The jury quickly assessed a Life sentence and Pineda is not eligible for parole.
Conroe Police Department, Children’s Safe Harbor, and Texas Forensic Nurse Examiners provided the services and support necessary to bring justice to the victims and to the Montgomery County community.
Assistant District Attorney Sara Corradi stated, “Jose Pineda manipulated and abused these children for so long that they lived in a prison of silence and shame, so it is only fitting that they are finally free while he is locked away and can never hurt another child again.”
Assistant District Attorney Carmen Morales shared, “The jury sentence reinforced that it’s never too late to speak up about abuse and it’s never too late to bring those who hurt children to justice.”
District Attorney Brett Ligon said, “Jose Pineda earned every day of his life sentence. This jury has shown yet again that the citizens of Montgomery County will not tolerate those who abuse our children.”
