The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office held a Change of Command Ceremony on October 30, 2025 honoring Michael R. Holley.
On October 29, 2025, Governor Greg Abbott appointed Michael R. “Mike” Holley as the new Montgomery County District Attorney, following the resignation of Brett Ligon, who is departing after 17 years of distinguished service to pursue a seat in the Texas Senate representing District 4. The ceremony honored former District Attorney Brett Ligon for 17 years of devoted service to the people of Montgomery County. “Through his vision, integrity, and steadfast leadership, Brett Ligon transformed the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office into a model of professionalism and public trust,” read the program. “As he embarks on his next chapter of public service, we extend our deepest gratitude for his enduring impact and example of principled leadership.”

The ceremony included a welcome by District Attorney Mike Holley, Invocation by The Honorable Lincoln Goodwin, Pledge to the U.S. Flag by Mrs. Brittany Minter, Pledge to the Texas Flag by Sgt. Brent Steward, Presentation to Brett Ligon by District Attorney Mike Holley, Remarks by Brett Ligon, Oath of Office for Mike Holley and for Investigators and Prosecutors by The Honorable Lisa Michalk, Remarks by District Attorney Mike Holley and a Blessing and Benediction by Father Jon Beadle.
