The Boring Company announces The Woodlands as a finalist of Tunnel Vision Challenge
The Boring Company just shared on X it’s congratulations to the Tunnel Vision Challenge Finalists, including the project proposal submitted by The Woodlands Township.
Recently in The Woodlands Township Board of Directors’s regular meeting held on February 19, the Board approved a draft proposal and letter of support for The Boring Company’s “Tunnel Vision” Challenge. If accepted and chosen as the winner, the company may build a tunnel up to one mile in length in Town Center and at no cost to The Woodlands Township.
Out of the 487 applications submitted, The Boring Company selected and named 16 projects as finalists, including the proposed “The Woodlands Loop” submitted by The Woodlands Township. The winner will be announced on March 23.
On the Tunnel Vision Challenge’s webpage, The Boring Company detailed that the “tunnel can be a Loop tunnel, a freight tunnel, a pedestrian tunnel, a utility tunnel, a water tunnel, or any other use case where a tunnel would be useful.” Of the finalists, 8 are proposed Loop projects, 6 are Pedestrian tunnels, and 2 for Utility.
