Press Conference: Montgomery County Grand Jury indicts Man accused of administering Abortion-Inducing Drug without Woman’s knowledge or consent
The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office jointly announced today that a Montgomery County grand jury has returned felony indictments against Jon Rueben Demeter, 25, in connection with allegations that he secretly administered an abortion-inducing drug to a pregnant woman without her knowledge or consent, resulting in the death of her unborn child.

Demeter has been indicted on charges of Performance of an Abortion and Injury to a Child, both first-degree felonies, following an extensive investigation conducted by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and presented to the grand jury by prosecutors with the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office.
According to the indictments, Demeter is accused of administering a substance, drug, medicine, or other means to a pregnant woman in February 2026 without her knowledge or consent. Prosecutors allege the act resulted in the death of the unborn child and caused serious bodily injury.
The case was formally filed in the 221st District Court, Judge Lisa Michalk presiding, and is being prosecuted by Chief Prosecutor Laura Hill. Detective Brandon Bartoskewitz with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office served as the lead investigator on the case.
Officials emphasized during today’s press conference that the charges stem from allegations involving the non-consensual administration of medication and the resulting harm alleged in the investigation.
“This case represents allegations of deliberate deception that resulted in devastating consequences,” said Montgomery County District Attorney Mike Holley. “The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office will continue to pursue justice based on the facts, the evidence, and the laws of the State of Texas. We are grateful for the extensive investigative work conducted by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the careful review performed throughout the grand jury process.”
Chief Prosecutor Laura Hill said the case reflects the seriousness with which prosecutors and investigators approach allegations involving bodily autonomy, personal safety, and the protection of victims.
“These allegations describe conduct that is both deeply troubling and profoundly harmful,” Hill said. “Our responsibility is to carefully evaluate the evidence, apply the law as written, and seek justice on behalf of victims and this community. We remain committed to ensuring this case is prosecuted with the seriousness and diligence it deserves.”
Officials also acknowledged the significant public attention surrounding the case and encouraged anyone who believes they may have additional relevant information to contact the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
Due to the ongoing nature of the prosecution, officials declined to comment further on evidentiary matters outside of the allegations contained in the indictments.
As in all criminal cases, the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
