MCSO investigating Fatal Shooting of 16-year-old in The Woodlands

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred during the early morning hours of June 4, 2026, in The Woodlands.

At approximately 4:04 a.m., deputies responded to a 911 call reporting a male with a gunshot wound inside a residence on Redberry Court in The Woodlands. Patrol units arrived on scene within minutes, at approximately 4:09 a.m., and immediately began lifesaving measures. Despite their efforts, the male was pronounced deceased on scene.

The deceased is a 16-year-old male. Two other individuals, ages 17 and 19, who are a friend and a sibling of the deceased, were also present at the residence at the time of the incident. Preliminary investigations indicate the shooting appears to be accidental, and there is no threat to the public. The case will be referred to the District Attorney’s Office for review and determination of any potential charges.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators are currently on scene, along with representatives from the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office and the Montgomery County Medical Examiner’s Office, conducting their investigation.

At this time, the victim’s identity is not being released pending notification of additional family members.

The scene remains active, and the investigation is ongoing.
