This Is Us: Real Stories, Real People, Real Conversations About Mental Health on Oct. 24
Storytelling Empowers invites the community to an unforgettable evening of storytelling and artistic expression designed to challenge mental health stereotypes and inspire connection.
On October 24, 2026, from 7:00–8:30 p.m., the Owen Theatre will become a safe space for courage, creativity, and honest conversation as Storytelling Empowers presents This Is Us.
Mental health affects people from every walk of life, yet stigma can make it difficult to talk openly about our experiences. This Is Us aims to change that narrative by giving local storytellers an opportunity to share their journeys in their own voices.
Through music, monologues, poetry, dance, and sound therapy, performers will bring personal stories of struggle, resilience, healing, and hope to the stage. The evening will offer audiences an opportunity not only to listen, but also to recognize the common threads that connect us all.
At the heart of This Is Us is a simple but powerful belief: our (your) stories matter!
When people have the courage to speak about their experiences, others may feel less alone. When communities listen without judgment, meaningful conversations can begin. And when artistic expression is used to explore personal experiences, it can create a pathway toward greater understanding and compassion.
This Is Us is more than a night of entertainment. It is an invitation to look beyond stereotypes, celebrate vulnerability as a form of strength, and create a community where conversations about mental health are accepted rather than judged.
