Firearm recovered at Willis High School: Student detained, Scene Secure, No Injuries

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office shared an update regarding a “Firearm Recovered at Willis High School: Student Detained, Scene Secure, No Injuries” on Monday, September 21 at 1:29 p.m.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officers detained a 15-year-old male Willis High School student Monday morning after receiving an anonymous report that the student may have had a firearm on campus.

School administrators and MCSO School Resource Officers immediately located and detained the student. During the investigation, deputies recovered a loaded firearm in the student’s backpack.

No threats were made, and there were no injuries. The student has been taken into custody and transported to the Montgomery County Juvenile Detention Center. Due to the student’s age, no identifying information will be released.

The scene has been secured, and students and staff are safe.

As an added precaution, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has assigned additional deputies to the campus and will increase patrols in the area throughout the week.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and Willis ISD commend the individual who reported the concern. That report allowed law enforcement to act quickly and safely address the situation.

The investigation remains ongoing.
